Yes, Searching For A Data Recovery Solution Doesn’t Have To Be Difficult.

…But Most People Don’t Know What To Look For In Choosing One. The Process is Simpler Than You Think.

data recovery service founderCall any company who offers data recovery and they will claim to be qualified to do the job.

But be reassured, ALL DATA RECOVERY SOLUTIONS ARE NOT THE SAME – how could they be with over 12 million websites to choose from?

Finding The Right One Can Be Easy – it’s not about luck, like so many people believe.

It’s not about searching through endless websites by trial and error, neither is it about randomly choosing one or two to call – which is what most people still do.

The process is much simpler, so simple that most people overlook it. This oversight is precisely what can make the data recovery process feel so frustrating.

I can’t even imagine the tax nightmare that almost happened…

As the president of a global web development company, EVERYTHING I had was on my computer: email, graphics, data, financial records, even faxes!

My drive started making funny noises one day…. I ignored it. HUGE mistake. The hard drive would not even boot anymore. I tried to get it back up – forget about it.

Thank you ACR Data Recovery…100% of my critical data was recovered!

Founder, ACR Data Recovery

Dear Friend,

Twenty years ago, I experienced data recovery myself, when the industry was just forming. I made the mistake of deleting a business file by accident. I searched everywhere on my computer for the data, but it was gone.

Despite all my efforts, I couldn’t recover the file. So, I started looking for a recovery solution, but couldn’t find one. I could hardly believe I was the only person wanting to recover data.

I was confused – with computers being used by so many people, why weren’t there any data recovery products or services? And if there were, why couldn’t I find them?

Today, finding a data recovery solution is easy. Choosing the right one from the 12 million data recovery websites, reminds me of the frustration I experienced twenty years ago in locating just one.

Can There Really Be 48 Million Data Recovery Solutions?

Imagine there are twelve million hard drive manufacturers, television companies, and cell phone makers. How about operating systems, like Macintosh, Windows, Linux, UNIX, NetWare, and…who else?

Let’s see – looking on the search engines, hard drive manufacturers gives 37,100,000 results. Cell phone makers has 74,900,000 choices. And operating systems offers a surprising 62,500,000.

We all know – there aren’t that many REAL solutions.

Data recovery is no different.

Like hard drives, cell phones – and every other industry – the data recovery world has very few companies that have the know-how to create data recovery software, and the advanced technologies required for data recovery service.

This is just the beginning.

How about the costs of building out a clean room environment and maintaining it? Plus, data recovery specialists and programmers don’t work for free.

What does this mean?

Only a handful of firms are doing data recovery as a full-time business. And there are lots of techs, computer repair shops, and marketing groups cross-selling data recovery services on the side – which I will talk about in a minute.

My promise to you is – in just a few minutes, you will be able to differentiate a professional data recovery company from other groups that offer data recovery. And more importantly, you will know specifically how to use each one to get your data recovered.

Thank you for all your support today. This message comes from Outlook on my crashed machine. I got all my data back, and I couldn’t be happier.

– Tom Moulder (TREX Associates, Inc.)

Well – shortly after my first attempt and failure in data recovery, I discovered a client’s main office computer crashed. He didn’t know what to do – much less know that he could lose his data.

Remember, this was twenty years ago when computers were just becoming mainstream across many business industries – but data recovery was unheard of.

This got me thinking. I knew someone had to know about data recovery. Computers were being used by too many people, and I was sure lots of other people were also losing data.

I figured all I had to do was find this somebody and have them teach me their data recovery techniques. Was I naive.

I soon learned there wasn’t anybody. The more I searched, the more brick walls I ran into.

Right Then And There I Made Up My Mind

Refusing to quit, I started researching ways to recover data. I’m talking about reading out of print computer coding books, talking with some brilliant people, and trying out everything I thought would work. I was determined to find a way to recover my client’s data – and mine.

Light bulbs were also going on in my head saying this could make a great business opportunity.

Fortunately, I found a way to recover my client’s partition, so that I could copy the data off to a new hard drive. It took me a month to recover his files – if you can imagine that.

This experience changed my life and the data recovery industry. For the past eighteen years, I have been recovering data, fighting crime with computer forensics, and building data recovery tools that are used worldwide.

What still surprises me today is – finding the right data recovery solution seems just as difficult as it was twenty years ago, unless you know exactly what to look for.

Can Finding The Right Recovery Solution Be This Easy?

Yes, It Can Be – But You Have To Know What To Look For In A Data Recovery Company.

Here’s how…

Professional data recovery companies ONLY offer three things – data recovery software, data recovery services, and computer forensic services. Nothing more!

Let’s see…

On any website you are reviewing, start by looking for data recovery software and data recovery services. If either of them are missing – especially data recovery software – 99.9% of the time you are NOT looking at a full-scale professional data recovery company. Here’s why…

The Techs and The Marketing Companies

Techs and IT shops that offer data recovery services, but don’t promote data recovery products, don’t do so, because they don’t have the know-how to do it, they can’t make as much money from selling products, or they want you to be dependent upon their higher priced data recovery services.

Marketing websites promote everything short of the kitchen sink to make a commission – as long as they don’t have to answer the phone. These marketers affiliate with data recovery companies to help sell their data recovery products – and on occasion data recovery services.

Every now and then, you see one of these marketing sites trying to promote data recovery service for somebody, but eventually they quit because it becomes a tech support nightmare.

What This Means Is…

When you are looking at a data recovery website, data recovery products should be offered in addition to data recovery services to consider it as a data recovery company.

Sure – there’s the 1% exception, but it’s like finding a needle in a haystack. Their main excuse for not offering data recovery products is, they can be harmful to your data. That’s bunk. My response, it’s an excuse. They can’t make them, otherwise they would. And they want you to be dependent upon their data recovery service.

If the site looks suspect – as in one of those marketing sites – take the extra step to find the contact information. If it’s hidden at the bottom of the page, if they don’t have a 1-800 number, or if email support is the only way to contact them, click the back button and move on to the next website.

The exception…

While professionals offer data recovery software and data recovery services, a few pros I know just make and market recovery products themselves.

I consider them experts because their solutions are effective and time-tested, and they have been doing this for many years. Kudos to you guys!

The People Posing As Professionals

I’ll say it again – professional data recovery companies make and sell data recovery products, regardless of what any sales person may say. Here’s why I know this…

The original five data recovery companies made data recovery software as a solution for home-users who couldn’t afford data recovery services; and as a marketing tool for technicians.

We all knew techs had clients with data loss problems, but they had no know-how or utilities to help them out. So, we all basically offered them data recovery software for a small fee to cover our costs. In return, we all hoped to earn their referral business when in-lab data recovery service was needed to recover the data. It worked!

But then…

I started releasing more powerful data recovery products.

My second recovery product Boot and Partition Repair sold like hot cakes. Then, when I released Media Tools Professional the entire data recovery industry changed worldwide. Here’s how…

Media Tools Professional is essentially a data recovery company in a box. It is still the only software available that can access drives that are mechanically failing. And the functions Reverse-Clone, Cycle-Clone can even work through read errors to extract data.

If you don’t know much about data recovery, extracting data from failing drives is where the money is made, not selling recovery software. If you can keep the drive out of the cleanroom using software, even more money can be made. This is Media Tools Professional.

About three months after its release, data recovery websites started popping up all over the Internet. It puzzled me. I couldn’t figure out what was going on until these techs – who had bought my software – started asking us to recover the drives they couldn’t do with Media Tools Professional.

What I found out is this – these technicians created a data recovery service site and started promoting themselves as a data recovery service company. Anything they couldn’t do with Media Tools Professional, they would send to us, or to one of the other four professional data recovery centers.

I’ve got a list of thousands – yes thousands – of websites that have done this over the years.

Here’s My Point To Help You

There are very few professional data recovery service centers and thousands of small IT businesses cross-marketing hard drive recovery services in the name of “XYZ data recovery ” trying to outsmart you.

Anybody can make a fancy looking data recovery website, posing as a professional data recovery service company. They buy recovery products from the professionals so that they can try the recovery first; and then send off drives they can’t do themselves to the recovery experts. Quite a few people have become very good at this.

But, very few people can create and sell data recovery software, and perform data recovery services. So, you can immediately tell who the posers are when reviewing their website – you won’t find any data recovery products.

When Using The Local Business

Professional data recovery service companies are considered experts for two reasons – they think data safety first, and data recovery second; and it’s the only thing they do. Local IT companies may think they know the best safety steps, but twenty years of dealing with them tells me otherwise.

Now I’m not bad-mouthing them or suggesting you can’t use one of them for basic data recovery cases. Heck, twenty-percent of our revenue comes from these techs.

But, ….

I am urging you to do one thing before letting them do anything to your media – make them perform a bit-image of your drive, and then, demand they give you the original – not the copy – before authorizing the recovery process. Why?

What this does is ensure you have a backup if and when a mistake is made. In data recovery, you seldom get a second chance to recover data.

When To Use The Professional

If your data has value – monetarily, emotionally, or your company is going to cut your head off if you don’t get the data recovered – you should consider using a professional hard drive data recovery service company.

If your media is failing to start to the desktop, or if it’s making noises you have never heard before, turn it off immediately and contact a professional data recovery service. Cleanroom work is probably needed.

Your Data Recovery Checklist

When searching for the best data recovery solution, keep this checklist in mind:

1. Professionals ONLY offer data recovery software, data recovery service, and computer forensics. Nothing more!

2. A few pros program and market data recovery products, but don’t offer data recovery services.

4. People posing as professionals only market data recovery services. Most websites to watch out for fall into this category. Remember, professional data recovery service companies also offer data recovery software.

5. If a site looks suspect, challenge the contact information. Is it only at the bottom of the page? Is there no toll-free 1-800 number? Is there only email support? If so, move on to the next site.

6. If you use a local IT or computer repair shop to attempt the recovery, get a bit-image backup, and then have them return the original, before approving the recovery process.

7. When data loss means losing money and memories, if your data cannot be recreated, or if the drive is failing to start to the desktop, turn it off and call a professional data recovery service.

I just want to thank you for your service. You are a life saver. Your support has been great. On a scale 1 to 10, 10 being the best, you are an 11.
